Worldwide certification processes
Neben der elektromagnetische Verträglichkeit (EMV) müssen solche Produkte den in den jeweiligen Ländern geltenden gesetzlichen Anforderungen entsprechen. In Europa ist dafür die sogenannte RED das Maß aller Dinge.
In vielen Ländern können die vom VDE nach RED geprüften Produkte mit den existierenden Testreports entsprechend zertifiziert werden. Dies funktioniert natürlich auch mit Testreporten von anderen Drittstellenprüflaboren, solange diese dafür nach ISO 17025 akkreditiert sind.
Lokale Prüfungen sind somit nur für die Länder notwendig, bei denen die normativen Grundlagen von Europa abweichen oder es gesetzlich gefordert ist, Prüfungen in einem Labor durchzuführen, welches von der zuständigen Behörde im Zielland akkreditiert wurde.

Additional international certifications
For a series of countries, there is often mandatory certification according to country-specific standards. Cooperation agreements ensure the recognition of the test results of the VDE and the award of conformity marks, which are a prerequisite for export business to these countries. In many other countries, a voluntary national certification mark may provide direct benefits for the import and marketing of the products in the target country, because there is an increased level of trust among customers of the product in the certification marks known to them. In these cases, factory inspections will be performed by VDE inspectors on behalf of the respective certification body.
