How to become an author on the VDE blog?

Guest author at VDE

The portal for guest authors in the VDE offers interested parties, experts as well as representatives from science, research and technology a platform for their knowledge and professional expertise.

Guest writers at VDE benefit through the provision of relevant and up-to-date electrotechnical contributions in any format. This makes their wide-ranging expertise more visible both nationally and internationally at the economic and political level.

Aim of the guest contributions

We at VDE, one of the largest technology organizations in Europe, have stood for innovation and technological progress for more than 125 years. As the only organization worldwide, VDE combines science, standardization, testing, certification and application consulting under one umbrella. For 100 years, the VDE symbol has been synonymous with the highest safety standards and consumer protection.

We plan to have guest contributions from authors who will share their knowledge with us and the entire community at regular intervals.

Together with your high-quality guest contributions, we thus offer content that is up-to-date, relevant and tailored to the specific target group.

At the VDE network we are shaping a future that is worth living: networked, digital – and electrifying.

Shape the future – together with us.

For whom does cooperation with VDE make sense?

Guest authorship makes sense for persons who

  • are experts from science, research and technology;
  • will become experts from science, research and technology;
  • have experience and knowledge of electrical engineering and future trending technology topics such as blockchain, AI, sustainability, renewable energy, etc.;
  • are active in one of our VDE professional associations or one of our VDE committees;
  • already participate at DKE or in one of our other VDE committees;
  • have already established their own community in the technical or electrotechnical field through, for example, blogs, videos, podcasts, or other communication activities;

Our topics

We deal with current and future topics related to electrical engineering and information technology. These include, for example, artificial intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things, electromobility and autonomous driving, energy storage, renewable energies, sustainability, smart homes and much more. We focus on all areas of life and work involving electrical or electrotechnical aspects – from industry and the private sphere, to political topics such as the energy transition or the increasing demand for more sustainability.

Formats – article, video or podcast?

We are looking for interesting content in any format. No matter the field in which you are an expert – whether articles, videos or podcasts – we offer solutions tailored precisely to fit you and your requirements. If you have an exciting article or current topic, then please join us. We will find the ideal presentation option for you. Benefit from the coverage of a large community with more than 100,000 volunteer experts and around 1,500 companies.

Benefits of VDE authorship

Both sides benefit from the collaboration of guest authors at VDE. VDE has the chance to offer the entire community relevant, high-quality, and exciting content geared to the specific target group and to provide external insights into current and future trending topics. Our guest authors are able to demonstrate their skills and expertise , expand their network and increase their coverage. In concrete terms this happens through

  • prominent presentation of the guest authors with written, verbal and/or visual content in the blog section of VDE LOOP;
  • personal presentation on the guest author page, on social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, and in particular LinkedIn, as well as in the various VDE newsletters;
  • the large VDE professional community of more than 100,000 volunteer experts and approximately 1,500 member companies. These are appointed staff from all of the major “interested parties”, such as research, science and technology, but also from users, official authorities, professional associations, vocational, technical and higher education institutions, commerce, the skilled trades, industrial manufacturers, testing institutes, property insurers, independent experts, technical supervisors and consumers.
  • The opportunity for long-term cooperation with VDE in order to benefit from the substantial coverage and expertise offered by VDE.
  • support in writing the contributions, depending on the writer’s level of knowledge and experience.

Procedure for preparing a contribution

Through authorship on the VDE blog everyone has the opportunity to contribute and share their knowledge; provided that the criteria for authorship specified at the outset are met and corresponding experience and knowledge in science, research and/or technology or a corresponding online community is available.

With writing experience

If you already have experience regarding authorship, then you can send us a simple application with a description of the topic by e-mail. Provide us with information about the topic you would like to report on and for what reason. We will then contact you to discuss possible collaboration and any further details.
After a first draft and final review your contribution will be published on our platform, in our news, on social media (e.g. LinkedIn) as well as in our newsletters. Send us your inquiry now using the form at the bottom of this page.

Without writing experience

Persons who have no experience in writing articles may also apply. You and your knowledge should be provided a forum that should not be compromised due to a lack of experience as a writer. We want external, exclusive insights and content. If you would like to contribute to this, then you are very welcome at VDE.

We are happy to support you with a writer’s guide and, for example, accompany you in your writing process with relevant questions, as well as an editing service to make a high-quality contribution possible.
After preparation of your article has been completed and final review has been carried out, your contribution will be published on our platform, in our news, on social media (e.g. LinkedIn) as well as in our newsletters. You can send us your inquiry easily and directly by using the form at the bottom of this page.
